Cold metal sawing, or cold metal sawing, is the abbreviation for the sawing process used by circular saws. During the sawing process, heat generated by the saw blade's teeth as it cuts the workpiece is transferred to the sawdust through the teeth, keeping the workpiece and blade cool. This is the reason for the name cold sawing. Cold sawing differs from friction sawing, where the workpiece rubs against the saw, causing both the saw and the workpiece to heat up significantly during the cutting process.
